When I came home the other night I looked at my caller ID and found that I had received quite a few calls. I have the kind of caller ID that displays the name as well as the number. However, of the calls that came in the other night there were several that had no names listed and there were some that had names I didn't recognize. I recognized a couple of the nameless numbers as my friend's cell numbers, but for the remainder I had to find a phone number lookup website in order to figure out who had called me.

I found out that three of the calls had come from telemarketing firms, which I found interesting since I am on the national Do-Not-Call registry. Those three callers did not bother to leave a voice mail. Go figure. You can be sure I will be filing out a complaint form with the FCC later. Two other calls were people that I did not know, but I will follow up on those later. Finally, one of the calls was from someone that I had definitely needed to get back to. I have an important business venture that I am working on and this person is a key figure. If not for the phone number lookup service, I would have missed in important business opportunity.

The value of a search like this should not be underestimated. Had I not done the search, it could have cost me a significant amount of money. Fortunately, I was able to return the call and set up a meeting to discuss my business plan. Regardless of whether or not my venture is successful, I know it will not have failed due to a simple missed phone call.
